Born in Chuncheon, South Korea in 1965, I have always been drawn to the world of art. After majoring in ceramics at Kookmin University, I decided to move to Italy to continue his studies. I attended the Gaetano Ballardini State Institute of Ceramic Art in Faenza to develop my skills and knowledge in ceramic art. Later, I graduated from the Department of Sculpture at the prestigious Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where I honed my creativity.
After I finished my studies, I took a break to focus on my family. However, as I went through the 2019 pandemic, I felt the urge to express myself artistically once again. Because of this, I started painting around the emotions I experienced during the pandemic. I tried to capture the discomfort and tension of everyday life that arouses feelings of chaos due to the uneasy news and social issues that pour in every day. Nonetheless, I wanted to infuse my work with hope and optimism.
In my paintings, I use a variety of mediums such as oil pastels, acrylics, and collage techniques. I avoid sketching and instead rely on my intuition to express myself freely and without constraint. My work reflects the conflicts, tensions, and ambiguities of everyday life, and shows emotions intertwined with the news of the day. Through my art, I aim to tell the story of a group of friends embarking on an adventure despite doubts and uncertainties as they navigate the misty realities of the world around them.
